The three day event organized at St. Joseph’s College Layibi Gulu sports grounds was a success. Special Olympics Uganda organized the national special Olympic Games on the 9th, 10th and 11th of June 2022. The participation of athletes was good, they attracted teams from majority of the regions of Uganda. Among those which participated include the following; Jinja, Wakiso, Masaka, Hoima, Kibaale, fortportal, Hill preparatory school Naggulu, Gulu, Kumi, Cell wakiso(Dr.Njuki’s school Kakiri), Silent angles school and others.

For example football was going on and at the same time activities such as athletics, netball, volleyball, swimming, basketball were also happening on different courts.

Athletes were screened to check on the performance in different sectors of their lives. The eyes, general body health, fitness and dentists departments were available and performed the work on all the athletes and the coaches.

Day 3.

Day three started early enough because of the heavy load it was carrying. By 9:00am different games and sports had resumed. This was the last day of the event, to make sure that the event is on time, each category could announce their winners and they got  awarded immediately.

For Green Acres Center we managed to emerge as number 2 in foot ball and we were awarded with 12 silver medals. Thanks to the team for the work well done
